Waupaca County Courts Emergency Order

An Emergency Order was signed by the Waupaca County Judiciary Committee, in order to help keep everyone using the Waupaca County Court System safe.

Details are listed below:

  • If the hearing is essential (i.e., an individual in custody on new charges, a juvenile who has been placed out of home, restraining order hearings etc.) the hearing will continue to be held as required by law.  If accommodations can be made to avoid in person appearances (for example, if videoconference or teleconferencing) can be utilized, they will be.  Otherwise, in person hearings will be held.
  • If the hearing is non-essential, but can be held via telephone, the hearing will proceed.
  • If the hearing is non-essential and cannot be held via telephone (i.e., most plea/sentencing hearings) they will be rescheduled to a date/time beyond May 15, 2020.

Lastly, the judiciary understands this is a very fluid situation and will be flexible as the recommendations change.  We appreciate everyone’s flexibility as we deal with this unprecedented situation.
